Tanuki: The Trump regime's 2025 National Security Strategy asserts that international institutions, like the U.N. and NATO, undermine the character of the U.S. Fox: Fuck yeah! Now THIS is what I voted for! Fuck the elites and their priorities! Tanuki: They say that immigration in Europe is leading to civilizational erasure. Fox: It was happening here, too -- until we took our country back! Tanuki: And they say the U.S. needs growing numbers of strong, traditional families raising healthy children. Fox: Damn straight! I'm going to make as many children as I can...as soon as someone lets me.

The Trump regime released its 2025 National Security Strategy, a document of which I'd never heard, probably because it never said anything terribly interesting, but Trump's toadies, always eager to upend the status quo, have made this extremely interesting, much the way looking out the airplane window to see the ground speedily approaching is interesting. Heather Cox Richardson quoted someone saying that the report should have been numbered 88 and shortened to 14 words and that's about right. It's full of nonsense like "this cannot be accomplished without growing numbers of strong, traditional families", never mind that immigration is the only thing keeping the U.S. birth rate above replacement. Those strong traditional families raising healthy children? ICE is deporting them.

Also, "We want the world's most robust, productive, and innovative energy sector", which, fair enough, except also "We reject the disastrous 'climate change' and 'Net Zero' ideologies that have so greatly harmed Europe, threaten the United States, and subsidize [sic] our adversaries." Oh yeah, it's riddled with typos and grammatical errors, too. And let's not even discuss the errors of style. (Can you subsidize adversaries? Is that how that works?)

The report explicitly reaffirms the Monroe Doctrine, which you probably remember from Social Studies class as the thing that drove the U.S. to attempt to genocide the natives and fuck with governments and people across Central and South America, with whom we now apparently expect to partner with to "stop drug flows" (mostly caused by Americans one way or another) and "strengthen stability" (which has mostly been denied to Latin America by the U.S.).

The flip side of this is reducing our involvement in NATO and Europe in general. Apparently these stable geniuses (as in the smartest horses in the barn, I assume) forgot the reason we're so involved in Europe is to keep it from tearing itself apart and incidentally destroying the planet.
