What The Fuck, America?

NEW COMIC TWO OR THREE TIMES A WEEK, OR WHEN THE MOOD STRIKES

I find it darkly amusing how, when the Democrats are in power -- remember when we elected Barack Obama and the Dems controlled both houses of Congress? -- they can't seem to get anything done and even find themselves tripping over Democratic holdouts like Joe Manchin or John Fetterman, but when Republicans are in power suddenly the government runs entirely on their say-so without even a pretense of legal or Constitutional rationale. Joe Biden wants to forgive student loans and the Supreme Court says that's presidential overreach, but what's worse is, Biden and the Democrats say, "Uh, okay," and go back to their corner. Trump decides he wants to set his enemies on fire on the National Mall and SCOTUS is, like, sure, says right here in the Constitution you can do that, and the Republicans all line up with matches and kerosene.

I often think back to the Democrat attempt to gerrymander New York State, which was struck down by Democratic appointee judges. Big win for the rule of law, I guess, which will be some consolation as we're flung from the helicopter trailing our small intestines.

I'm not saying I want Democratic elected officials to break the law -- that's the other side's plan -- but I would like to see some fight. Exercise some power, and if nothing explicitly says you don't have that power, pretend you do until someone stops you! And maybe keep going even then!
